The Living Catalogue- Oct 11!

The Living Catalogue is a catered semi-formal dinner hosted by BLSA every semester to give all students interested in Law a chance to have dinner and to interact with faculty members from the Legal Studies department.

The professors will discuss the undergraduate law-related classes that they will be teaching during the Spring semester. Everybody who is invited will have a chance to talk to them about any subject they choose–classes, research, the professor’s area of study, and many more!

Ice Cream Float Social!

At this first BLSA social event, we will be providing free ice-cream and root beer/soda for all our members! Come ready to play fun games and meet all BLSA members and officers.We will be meeting first at Memorial Glade. If it isn’t too cold, we will stay there– if not, we will move indoors to a room. We are still waiting to hear back about which exact room it will be, but we will send out another email on Wednesday with that information (for those who plan on coming a little later).

This will be an amazing chance to get to know one of our top faculty! You
are welcome to talk to him about his specialty (crime/criminal justice) or
ask him any questions you have about careers, classes or research, etc. He
is currently teaching Punishment, Culture and Society, and will be teaching
Aims and Limits of the Criminal Law this summer, as well as another
crime-related course in the upcoming fall semester.

Lunch will be casual, but not paid for by BLSA. Please bring your own lunch,
or purchase it with us at the cafe.

Convocation/ 2nd General Meeting

The new member Convocation Ceremony will be on March 14th at 6:00pm in 89 Dwinelle. The President will hand out BLSA Membership Certificates and formally congratulate new members. Please RSVP prior to the event if you have already turned in your application. Guest(s) are welcome. The Convocation Ceremony will be followed by a short General Meeting where you will find out more about
our exciting upcoming events.

Testmasters LSAT workshop– and DISCOUNTS!

When: Wednesday, March 9th
Time: 6-7:30
Where: 115 Barrows

This event is open to everybody!

Those attending will have a chance to answer one difficult LSAT logical reasoning question. Each student who answers his/her question correctly will receive a voucher for half off the Testmasters tuition ($725).

Even if you don’t answer it correctly, you will still receive $100 off a Testmasters course just for being a BLSA member (however, you cannot combine the discounts).

During the workshop, the instructor will discuss the LSAT: how it relates to the admissions process, the scale used to score the test, percentile conversions, etc. We will be talking about how and when to start preparing.

We will also be teaching several LSAT logical reasoning questions as well as a logic game. Only real LSAT questions will be used, so you can be sure they are close to the real thing.
